Belarusian President witnesses first car produced by BELGEE Passenger Car CKD Plant

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visited the BELGEE Passenger Car CKD Plant Project contracted by CITIC Construction in Minsk on November 17, 2017, during which he witnessed the first car that rolled off the production line.

The President first visited the assembly operations and learnt robot welding technology with strong interest.

He then visited the assembly workshop, where he watched the assembly of engines and other procedures. Lukashenko spoke highly of the construction and capacity of the assembly line, as well as the modernity of the factory.

His trip was accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming, Chairman of CITIC Construction Chen Xiaojia, CEO of Geely Auto An Conghui and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir I. Semashko.

Lukashenko later attended the ceremony to see the first car rolled off production line, and pressed the button to kick off the project together with Cui Qiming, Chen Xiaojia, An Conghui, Vladimir I. Semashko and director Batrakov of the plant.

The President, in the special day, expressed his gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the latter’s strong supports to the project, and extended heartfelt congratulations and thanks to people involved in the construction of the project, including the Chinese partners, staff of BELGEE, and other people.

The project has made his dream of making self-developed passenger vehicles come true, and has opened a new chapter for economic and trade cooperation between China and Belarus, the President expressed.

Economic and Commercial Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Belarus Yang Xiumin, Assistant President of CITIC Construction Yang Jianqiang, China Machinery Industry Construction Group chairman Xu Yanlin, Belarusian Industry Minister Vovk Vitaly Mikhailovich, and Minsk governor Anatoly Isachenko also attended the activities. The visit was covered by Belarusian mainstream media.
