At 10 a.m. on June 20, 2019, the signing ceremony of the project of promoting paddy production and rice export in Cambodia was held in the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Cambodia. Chen Xiaojia, Chairman of CITIC Construction, and Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, signed the EPC contract of the project on behalf of China and Cambodia, with an amount of about $320 million. Wang Wentian, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia; Commercial Counsellor Li An; Aun Pornmoniroth, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance; and Vongsey Vissoth, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Finance witnessed this historic moment.
Before the signing ceremony, Wang Wentian and Chen Xiaojia held a warm and friendly meeting with Aun Pornmoniroth. Mr. Chen promised CITIC Construction would build a world-class paddy drying and storage system for Cambodia. Aun Pornmoniroth expressed gratitude to it and hoped that both China and Cambodia could take this project as an opportunity to jointly explore deeper cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The project of promoting paddy production and rice export in Cambodia consists of 12 warehouses distributed in 10 provinces and cities of Cambodia, with a total storage capacity of 1.017 million tons and a daily drying capacity of 13,000 tons. Each warehouse not only has the functions of collection and storage, inspection and testing, drying and so on, but also can serve as supervision and delivery warehouse, and provides the industry-leading technology and equipment of grain storage and transportation.
