On June 25, 2019, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of Angola, visited the Lubango RED Housing Project in Kilamba New City and unveiled the first housing handover at the opening ceremony. Li Zhengquan, Vice President of CITIC Construction and General Manager of its Africa Division, participated in related activities.
President Lourenço listened carefully to the introduction of the New City by Ana Paula Chantre Luna de Carvalho, Minister of Spatial Planning and Housing, and inspected the labs of Medicine College and classrooms of the University of Lubango, medical centers of primary school and community hospitals in Kilamba New City. In the primary school, Angolan President participated in the first flag-raising ceremony since the school was built. At the end of the event, the President personally handed over the keys to a couple of veterans who were the first residents of the New City, and had a cordial conversation with the veterans in their new homes.
The first batch of Lubango RED Housing Project in Kilamba New City consists of 854 housing units and three public buildings. The successful completion of the opening ceremony marked the beginning of official residence of the residents, creating conditions for smooth follow-up handover.
Luís da Fonseca Nunes, Governor of Huíla Province, Maria Teixeira, Minister of Education, Silvia Lutucuta, Minister of Health, João Baptista Borges, Minister of Energy and Water Resources, and other officials accompanied the inspection.
