On September 16,2019, Chen Xiaojia, Chairman of CITIC Construction, and Alan Belfield, Chair of Arup Group, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic cooperation at CITIC headquarters (CITIC Tower) in Beijing as both sides aimed to strengthen cooperation in the global market. Richard Burn, HM Trade Commissioner for China, Tom Duke, Minister Counsellor at Department of International Trade and British Embassy Beijing, and Tao Yang, President of CITIC Construction witnessed the signing ceremony.
Alan Belfield expressed that Arup and CITIC Construction have established sound relations since the Beijing National Stadium Project. It is a pleasure to see that the friendship between the two sides moves forward nowadays. It is believed that the signing of the MoU will boost the development of new markets and new opportunities for the two sides. Chen Xiaojia said that CITIC Construction is willing to carry out in-depth cooperation with Arup, through drawing on Arup’s advantages in engineering technology, consultation and management as well as CITIC Construction’s outstanding capabilities of integrating resources at home and abroad, so as to complement each other’s strengths and expand CITIC Construction’s businesses in developed countries such as the UK.
Michael Kwok, Chairman of Arup’s East Asia Region, Kang Man, head of Arup's China, Piao Bo, Vice President of CITIC Construction, and Han Shaolong, Assistant President of CITIC Construction were also present at the signing ceremony and talks.
