In 1996, CITIC Construction won the bid for the general construction contract of Daxie Cross-sea Highway & Railway Bridge Project. The bridge was China's first pre-stressed concrete continuous rigid frame bridge in which both the highway and railway were built on the same bridge deck beam. The total length of the main bridge and railway approach bridges on both banks reaches 1,661.75 meters, and that of the main bridge and the highway approach bridge on the Beilun Bank is 2,459.81 meters. Besides, all ramps of the interchange on the Daxie Bank are “Single-way and Double-Lane” ramps. After completion, the project was rated as a “High-quality Project” with “Zero Error” in its middle span closing.
