On January 21, 2025, the Handover Certificate for the SMPP Supply and Installation Project of the Kipushi Zinc Mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was successfully signed. The project has entered a one-year warranty period.
This project strictly adhered to the contract provisions and implemented South African and European engineering standards. By overcoming adverse factors such as harsh environment, tight schedule and frequent changes, the project team completed the installation and commissioning of more than 2,200 tons of steel structures and supporting non-standard equipment with high quality. Finally, the quality inspection of all project sub-items and the review of completion documents were passed.
Following the Kamoa Copper Mine project, the Kipushi Zinc Mine project has once again become a successful example of business synergy within the group. It fully demonstrates the in-depth cooperation among CITIC Construction, CITIC Metal and Ivanhoe. The smooth handover of this project is of great significance for the early production and commercial operation of the mine, and also lays a solid foundation for further cooperation between the two sides.
